SCE recently completed the largest Brownfield Cleanup project in the State of Pennsylvania for a Private Developer.  The work included the excavation and re-location of 163,000 CY of material from seventeen (17) Areas of Concern (AOC’s) on site.  SCE was the prime contractor responsible for demolition of 150,000 SF of buildings; excavation, re-location, stabilization and handling of 163,000 CY of material on site; excavation and relocation of site drainage features including retention basins and swales.  Additionally, SCE processed 750,000 CY of concrete through an on-site crushing plant for usage in roads, excavations,berms, etc. and recovered 93 “unknown” abandoned cylinders from the subsurface.

This project, located in Bensalem, PA, was completed six (6) months ahead of schedule and on budget.  Over 57,400 man-hours were worked on this project with no accidents or incidents. The property was the former Atofina Chemical Plant which was acquired by a local Developer for the construction of 600+ single family / townhomes on this site located on the Delaware River.

This project was recently awarded the 2008 Environmental Achievement Award which is a highly competitive award that celebrates and recognizes outstanding organizations and individuals who have made significant contributions toward enhancing and protecting the quality of our environment.
