In 2010, SCE was awarded the Pennsylvania Governor's Safety Excellence Award from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry.  This prestigious award is a highly competitive award and is presented to companies that provide a safe work environment for Pennsylvania’s workers. With over 85,000 companies located in the Commonwealth, the Department of Labor & Industry has selected SCE as an award recipient.  This nomination requires a complete commitment by employers and employees. For this reason, Governor Rendell’s safety initiative provides Pennsylvania employers and employees with the information and technical assistance needed to develop comprehensive safety practices in the workplace. It also recognizes the successful employer-employee joint safety programs, which result in the achievement of safety excellence.

A special luncheon was held at the annual Governor’s Occupational Safety and Health Conference in Hershey, PA in which SCE was presented with their award in front of over 1,100 attendees.

At SCE, we believe that every accident, and therefore every injury, is preventable, and our strong commitment extends from the boardroom to the field crew. Every employee has stop-work authority - if it’s not safe, don’t do it.

Safety is integrated into every project through a combination of technical field procedures and ongoing training programs. Our safety and health program includes state-of-the-art safety data systems, computer-based training, a behavior-based safety program, and nationwide medical monitoring services.

Every SCE subcontractor and partner is asked to adopt our commitment to safety and health. The result is exceptional safety performance, even in exceptionally hazardous work environments, severe weather, and remote locations.

Our dedication to safety also pays off for our customers. Their operating costs go down, productivity goes up, and they lose less time to accidents. They also pay less for insurance, and receive substantial rebates for unused premiums.
